WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is an energy healing technique that works holistically: physically, mentally, and emotionally to harmonize and balance the whole person. It stimulates the body's own natural healing process, allowing space for the body and mind to heal. Our body is more likely to fight illness, infection, and disease when we are relaxed, positive, and de-stressed. Reiki can be done in person by the practitioner lightly placing their hands either on or just above the client's body, or can be sent over distance transcending time and space. Spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion, nor will it infringe on anyone's beliefs or personal values. The intention is to create deep relaxation, relieve stress and anxiety, speed healing, reduce pain, heal past and present trauma, as well as decrease other symptoms and issues
the client may be experiencing.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
During treatment, Reiki energy flows from the practitioner's hands into the client. Clients remain fully clothed, only removing their shoes. Clients will lie comfortably on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner will place their hands on or near the body, in a series of hand positions, allowing the Reiki energy to flow. Distance Reiki can also be "sent" to the recipient no matter where they are located. At a mutually convenient time, Donna and her client will have a long-distance Reiki session where the client relaxes in their own home or space, and the Reiki is sent from Donna. Even if the recipient is not relaxed, perhaps working, cooking, sleeping, exercising, etc. Reiki will still be received and at the same effectiveness as an in-person session.
WHAT WILL I FEEL?
What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies, though feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. Many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them.
As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear, or other negative feelings; a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.
WHAT CAN BE TREATED WITH REIKI?
Reiki has had a positive effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes things like anxiety, stress, tension, head or stomach aches, and colds, as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post-operative pain, and depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time needed to stay in the hospital. Reiki is used in medical facilities and hospitals all over the world. Reiki always helps, and in some cases, people have experienced complete healing which has been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. Reiki is a catalyst for renewal and well-being, which can also result in healthier choices, and initiate the release of stress and negative emotions that we carry within the body.
CAN REIKI CURE ME?
Reiki is not medicine—and it doesn’t treat specific symptoms or diseases.
It is a stream of complimentary, intelligent energy. As such, it heads right where you need it most. Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including medication, surgery, psychological care, medical intervention, and any other methods of alternative care, and will improve the results.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT & HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
This depends on what you are hoping for from Reiki. As a natural healing method, it is best to allow some time for Reiki to have an effect, so a series of treatments is going to be more beneficial than a single treatment in most cases. Reiki works best when received on a regular basis. The healing goes deeper and deeper as you receive it more regularly.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
We recommend wearing comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.
Please refrain from wearing scented products; including perfume, essential oils, strong deodorants, or body sprays.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR TREATMENT?
Be well-hydrated and not hungry. Avoid eating a heavy meal right before. Take some time to reflect before your session. Is there an intention you would like to set for your session? Are there things you wish to discuss with me beforehand? Are there specific areas of your body with pain, illness, or tension that you'd like me to focus on?
