WHAT IS THE MELT METHOD?
The MELT Method® (MELT®) is a simple self-treatment technique that helps you stay healthy, youthful, and active for a lifetime. MELT uses specially designed therapeutic treatment balls and soft memory foam rollers to help treat and heal your own body in a simple, natural way. It directly addresses connective tissue (fascia) and rebalances the nervous system. Connective tissue becomes dehydrated due to stress, repetitive use, injury, and chronic conditions. When connective tissue is properly hydrated, you decrease stress, increase athletic performance, improve posture and flexibility, recover faster from workouts, reduce aches, pain, inflammation, insomnia, depression, anxiety, neck and back stiffness, digestive issues, signs of aging, migraines, arthritis, sciatica, along with a host of other benefits...
WHO IS IT FOR?
It is for everyone!~ at any age and fitness level. From those riddled with chronic pain all the way up to professional athletes optimizing their athletic performance...and for everyone in between! MELT is not just for getting out of pain, it is also a great compliment to any kind of physical activity you already do.
WHO DEVELOPED THIS METHOD?
The MELT Method was developed by gifted neuromuscular therapist, researcher, and fitness instructor Sue Hitzmann. This method duplicates the amazing results that Sue achieves with the gentle touch of her own hands to help her clients get out of and stay out of pain. Donna Lorence is fortunate to have been trained in the basic and advanced MELT Method techniques directly by Sue herself.
The MELT Method can give you the tools and knowledge you need to move through life with more freedom and ease.

~This is better than any pill! And I'm a retired Pharmacist!! Ken W.
~Last night after class I had mild discomfort in my back but the amazing thing was I had no pain in the piriformis muscle. I actually slept the whole night without pain. I haven't slept in years without chronic pain. I feel so thrilled to have found MELT and so grateful that I signed up for your class. You're the best! See you next week. Karen L.
~I felt a little extra tired last night but I slept better. My sore hands and feet actually felt so much better and lasted all day. I enjoyed the class & look forward to next week's session. Eva S.
~I actually slept better. Have also been on my feet all day today and getting tired but my feet feel pretty good which is unusual bc I believe arthritis is there also. I went to yoga yesterday morning and my hands are usually a little sore the following day but aren't. I'm delighted and plan to do the 50 Second Facelift later. Thank you, Carole L.
~I was exhausted last night after class but other than that I feel great. The pain in my hip was gone and my knees and elbows didn't hurt for the first time in two weeks.
I look forward to more classes with you!! Aileen S.
~Just wanted to let you know I felt a difference in my body from just that one class! You have made me a believer, I signed up for more classes can't wait to get started. Thanks, Joan G.
~We just wanted to thank you again for the class last night. It was wonderful. My daughter went home and had a wonderful night sleep. We both felt better. Thank you again. Lisa K.
Clinically Proven! Read about NJ Institute of Technology's independent study on the effects of MELT:
The name of the study was “Effect of the MELT Method on the Thoracolumbar Connective Tissue,” and the objective was to determine how the thickness and other biomechanical properties of fascial tissue changed in subjects with chronic low back pain as a result of using the MELT Method. The research study was conducted in partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology and led by a biomedical engineering grad student, Faria Sanjana, who was advised by the founder of the Fascia Research Society, Tom Findley, Ph.D., and Hans Chaudhry, Ph.D.
The study found that participants who did MELT for four weeks had remarkable results, including reduced pain, increased flexibility, and changes in the connective tissue, including decreased thickening. The control group (who did not MELT) showed no significant changes.
The subjects were men and women 25 to 65 with nonspecific, chronic low back pain.
• 22 subjects for the MELT treatment group • 22 subjects for the control group
Participants couldn’t have a BMI over 30, depression, or an anxiety disorder, and they couldn’t have had corticosteroid injections in the spine or a severe low back injury or surgery, among other things.
The methods of testing included using an ultrasound machine, the Oswestry Low Back Pain Scale, and a forward flexion test, as well as, for the first time, a handheld digital palpation device called a MyotonPRO:
Ultrasound: used to measure thickness of connective tissue in the low back using testing parameters and analysis previously developed by Helene Langevin, Ph.D.
MyotonPRO: used to measure biomechanical properties including stiffness, elasticity, tone, and stress relaxation time (recovery time when stress is applied).
The research itself took place over four weeks. The research subjects came to the testing facility for two separate sets of measurements, then came back at the end of the study for another set of tests.
Initial testing: Ultrasound, MyotonPRO, flexibility test in hip hinge position, and pain scale
MELT group: 30-minute MELT self-treatment while watching a MELT video, and 5 minutes resting prior to retest
Control group: read or relaxed during same period
Immediate retest: Ultrasound, MyotonPRO, flexibility test in hip hinge position, and pain scale for both the control group and the MELT group
MELT group: 4-week MELT self-treatment protocol
Control group: no changes to routine
Final test: Initial testing was repeated one month later on both groups; MELT group did not MELT on the retest day
We’re so excited to report that participants who did MELT for four weeks had remarkable results!
Significant decrease in pain –43% immediate –31% long term
Significant increase in flexibility +9% immediate +24% long term
Significant decrease in the thickness of the fascial layers and combined thickness of the subcutaneous and fascial layers –26% immediate –34% long term
Significant increase in stress relaxation time in the lower area (below the 12th rib) on the left side of the muscle tissues of the spine +8% immediate +7% long term
Decreasing trend in stiffness of muscle tissue of the spine
The control group showed no significant changes in pain, flexibility, thickness of the fascial layers, stress relaxation time, or stiffness.
Here’s what one of our study participants had to say:
A transformation—at least in my case. Over 20 years I have suffered from back pain and have exhausted every means for relief. Considering back surgery last year and then one day I received a MELT survey study. EVERYTHING has changed. With just 15 minutes each day using hand, feet, and back therapy, each new day I am completely free of back pain—completely free!!! Truly a blessing!!!
